A Perfect Summer Adventure Day at Park City Mountain
Park City may be famous for the greatest snow on Earth, but the mountain is every bit as fun in the summer.
This summer our family spent a day riding, climbing, and exploring at Park City Mountain, surrounded by cooler mountain air and beautiful views.
The experience that stayed with me most was riding the Alpine Slide through the aspen trees.
There is something wonderfully nostalgic about sitting in your own little cart, choosing your speed and winding down the mountain with the trees rushing past.
It is exciting without feeling overly complicated, and it was an activity our family wanted to repeat immediately.
Choose Your Level of Adventure
Park City Mountain’s summer activities give family members the freedom to choose their own level of bravery.
The Mountain Coaster is faster and more intense, carrying riders through twists, turns, and drops on an elevated track.
The Alpine Slide gives riders more control over their speed, while the Flying Eagle Zip Line and ZipRider add a completely different kind of mountain thrill.
Children can bounce and flip on the Legacy Launcher while secured in a harness, test themselves on the climbing wall, play mini golf or try other activities depending on current operations.
That variety makes the Adventure Park especially helpful for families with children of different ages.
Everyone does not need to love the same activity to enjoy the day.
Stop for Lunch on the Mountain
A full day of climbing and riding requires a food break.
Depending on seasonal operations, families can eat at Backcountry BBQ or Legends Bar & Grill and not have to leave the Mountain at all.
Sitting down for a real meal gave everyone time to cool off, compare favorite rides and decide what they wanted to do again.
Check dining hours before your visit because restaurant availability can vary.
Stay Right Beside the Adventure
Our stay at Marriott’s MountainSide made the experience especially easy.
The resort is directly beside the mountain activities, so we could walk out to the Adventure Park without loading everyone into the car.
We could even see the Alpine Slide from our room, which upped the anticipation of what was ahead from the moment we checked in.
That proximity made the trip feel much more relaxing. After a long day outside, we could walk straight back to the hotel and swim in the pool rather than facing another drive.
It is a great option for families who want to turn Park City into an overnight getaway.
Ask About Utah-Resident Discounts
Utah residents should ask at the ticket window whether any local discounts are currently available. These offers can vary from season to season, so do not count on a particular discount in advance. Bring identification and ask in person when purchasing or collecting tickets. There are discounts available for children, so make sure you ask for the best offers.
BEFORE YOU GO:
Best for ages: The whole family will enjoy the beauty of the mountain. Take the time to check height and weight restrictions as you make plans. For example, the minimum height to be a passenger on the Alpine Slide is 35” and you must be between 100 and 280 pounds to ride the ZipRider.
Time to allow: Plan for a full day of family fun!
What to bring: Closed-toe shoes are required for most activities.
Reservations: You can buy tickets on site, which might be good so you can ask for current discounts.
Good to know: Weather and mechanical conditions can affect operations, so check the official activity-status page on the morning of your visit.
Our family was hosted for this experience. As always, the experiences and opinions shared are our own.
