Wade Evans and Afghan Friends

  • Logan Tabernacle 50 N Main St Logan, Utah, 84321 United States (map)

Wade Evans is a multi-instrumentalist who has traveled the world in search of The Sound. Among the numerous instruments on which he performs are the Turkish oud, which he learned while wandering the Middle East as a minstrel, and the Indian sitar, which was taught to him by master sitarist Pt. Shivnath Mishra, under whom he has studied- and continues to study- in Varanasi, India, since 2003; and the mandolin, on which he interprets unaccompanied Bach, Irish traditional, medieval, and Balkan melodies. Wade is a Cache Valley native.

Bakhtawarshah belongs to the Afghan community of Logan, UT. He came to the United States in 2021 after the Taliban took over his home state of Khost. Bakhtawarshah plays the Harmonium and sings in his native language of Pashto about migrants, his home state, his love for his brothers, and waiting through the long process of being reunited with his family, who remain in Afghanistan.
